Introduction

SecurePro Inc. is seeking a motivated Business Development Intern interested in gaining practical exposure to federal-market research, opportunity identification, capture support, pipeline management, proposal coordination, and business-development operations.

This is a structured, supervised learning experience. Assignments are chosen for their educational value and are performed under the direction of an assigned mentor, with periodic feedback and a defined end date. The intern supplements the business-development team rather than performing the role of a regular employee.

Work location
Remote within Virginia or another U.S. state approved by SecurePro in writing before the internship begins. Program Objectives

The internship is designed to help the participant learn how to:

  • Research federal agencies, customers, contract vehicles, competitors, and market conditions
  • Understand the federal business-development and procurement lifecycle
  • Identify and organize potential business opportunities
  • Evaluate opportunities using established qualification criteria
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, opportunity, partner, and customer information
  • Support capture-planning and proposal-development activities
  • Prepare clear research summaries, dashboards, reports, and presentations
  • Understand responsible handling of company, customer, procurement-sensitive, and partner information
  • Develop professional communication, organization, analytical, and follow-up skills

Guided Learning Activities

Under the direction of a SecurePro supervisor or mentor, and with work reviewed before use, the intern may:

  • Conduct federal-agency, customer, competitor, contract, and market research
  • Review public procurement information and summarize relevant opportunities
  • Assist with opportunity identification and preliminary qualification
  • Support maintenance of CRM, pipeline, contact, partner, and activity records
  • Assist with business-development dashboards, reports, forecasts, and metrics
  • Research potential teaming partners, prime contractors, subcontractors, and customer organizations
  • Support preparation of capability statements, presentations, meeting materials, and research summaries
  • Observe or assist with capture-planning and proposal-coordination activities
  • Prepare meeting notes, action items, and follow-up materials
  • Assist with organizing reusable business-development content
  • Receive periodic mentoring, feedback, and learning assessments
  • Complete a defined educational project or final presentation summarizing lessons learned

Required Qualifications

  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication
  • Ability to conduct structured research and summarize findings accurately
  • Organizational skills and dependable follow-through on agreed deadlines
  • Interest in federal contracting, government services, or technology services
  • Sound judgment when handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Availability to participate on a defined, limited-term schedule agreed with the assigned supervisor
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship

Preferred Qualifications

Students, recent graduates, and individuals participating in qualifying educational or training programs may be considered. The items below strengthen an application but are not required.

Preferred qualifications may include:

  • Coursework or experience in business, finance, economics, marketing, information systems, public policy, communications, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, data analysis, financial analysis, presentations, or research methods
  • Prior exposure to consulting, technology, or cybersecurity topics

Learning Opportunities

Learning opportunities the program is designed to provide:

  • Exposure to federal-market and opportunity research
  • Understanding of pipeline and capture-support processes
  • Experience organizing research, reports, presentations, and business-development data
  • Mentoring and structured professional feedback
  • A final project or presentation documenting learning outcomes

Learning and Supervision

The intern will:

  • Receive an assigned supervisor or mentor
  • Have documented learning objectives
  • Participate in scheduled check-ins and feedback sessions
  • Perform guided assignments of increasing complexity
  • Receive training appropriate to assigned systems and processes
  • Work on learning assignments that supplement, and do not displace, the work of regular SecurePro employees
  • Complete a defined, limited-duration internship plan

Program Limits

The internship carries no authority to act for SecurePro. The intern will not:

  • Bind SecurePro to any contractual or teaming commitment
  • Negotiate on SecurePro’s behalf or approve pricing
  • Submit a proposal, bid, or formal response without review and written authorization
  • Represent SecurePro to customers, partners, or the media without written authorization
  • Make promises of employment or compensation to anyone
  • State that SecurePro won work that has not been awarded
  • Access classified information, CUI, export-controlled data, customer credentials, or production systems, unless separately approved and legally authorized
