The anticipated hourly rate for this internship is $18 to $22 per hour.
Introduction
SecurePro Inc. is seeking an AI/ML & Computer Science Intern interested in gaining guided experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, software development, data processing, automation, testing, and technical documentation.
This is a structured, supervised learning program. The participant works under the direction of experienced technical personnel on approved systems, tools, repositories, and data, with defined learning objectives, periodic feedback, and a defined end date. The intern supplements the technical team rather than performing the role of a regular employee.

Program Objectives
The internship is designed to help the participant learn how to:
- Translate a defined problem into technical requirements
- Understand the basic AI/ML development lifecycle
- Prepare, clean, organize, and evaluate data
- Develop and test small software or automation components
- Use source control and collaborative development practices
- Understand responsible and secure use of AI technologies
- Evaluate model or application behavior using defined criteria
- Document technical decisions, assumptions, testing, and limitations
- Recognize privacy, security, data-quality, bias, and reliability considerations
- Communicate technical findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences
Guided Learning Activities
Under supervision, in non-production environments, and with work reviewed before it is used, the intern may:
- Assist with exploratory data analysis and data preparation
- Create small Python scripts, utilities, or automation prototypes
- Support supervised AI/ML experiments using approved datasets
- Assist with prompt evaluation, model-output review, or retrieval-based prototypes
- Support development of internal dashboards, APIs, or software features
- Write or update unit tests and test documentation
- Review software behavior and document defects or observations
- Support technical research and comparison of approved tools or methods
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
- Use Git or another approved source-control system
- Prepare diagrams, technical notes, user instructions, and project documentation
- Learn secure-development, privacy, and responsible-AI practices
- Complete a defined educational project or final technical presentation
Required Qualifications
- Current or recent study in computer science, software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, information systems, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline
- Foundational programming ability in at least one language, such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, or C++
- Willingness to learn and to work under technical direction
- Responsible handling of code, data, and credentials, including following SecurePro security and privacy direction
- Clear written communication for documenting work, testing, and findings
- Legal authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship
Preferred Qualifications
The items below strengthen an application but are not required. Version-control experience in particular is welcome rather than expected — using Git is one of the things the internship is designed to teach.
Preferred qualifications may include:
- Familiarity with Git or other collaborative development practices
- Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, databases, APIs, or software-testing concepts
- Interest in AI/ML, automation, secure software development, analytics, or responsible AI
- Strong problem-solving and technical-documentation skills
- Ability to learn independently while following technical direction and security requirements
- Personal, academic, or portfolio projects
Portfolio materials are optional. If an applicant chooses to share one, it may be:
- GitHub or similar repository
- School project
- Technical writing sample
- Data-analysis project
- Demonstration or portfolio website
Learning Opportunities
Learning opportunities the program is designed to provide:
- Exposure to practical AI/ML and software-development workflows
- Experience with supervised coding, testing, documentation, and data analysis
- Introduction to secure and responsible development practices
- Mentoring and structured technical feedback
- A final project or presentation documenting learning outcomes
Learning and Supervision
The intern will:
- Be assigned a technical supervisor or mentor
- Work from documented learning objectives
- Receive guided technical assignments
- Participate in code, design, or project reviews appropriate to experience
- Receive scheduled feedback
- Work only with approved systems, tools, repositories, and data
- Work on learning assignments that supplement, and do not displace, the work of regular SecurePro employees
- Complete a limited-duration learning project
Program Limits
The internship carries no independent technical or business authority. The intern will not:
- Deploy to production or hold production credentials
- Own, administer, or make changes to live customer systems
- Approve a security, architectural, privacy, or legal decision
- Access classified information, CUI, export-controlled data, customer credentials, or production systems, unless separately approved and legally authorized
- Use real customer data without authorization
- Introduce unapproved tools or models
- Place secrets, credentials, proprietary data, or personal information into public AI services
- Represent SecurePro or commit SecurePro to anything without written authorization
